Dr. Mona Khare (https://www.niepa.ac.in/mona_khare) is Dean (Academics and Research), and Professor & Head, Department of Educational Finance at National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration, New Delhi, India. Member 15th Finance Commission for Education sector funds estimation, Govt. of India. Consultant and expert with various international forums like UNESCO, UNICEF, Asian Productivity Organisation, British Council, Asia Pacific Association for International Education Opportunity, Commonwealth, SAARC, World Bank and Govt. bodies. She was member of the Commonwealth Education Ministers Drafting Committee of post-secondary forum for SDGs and Member signatory to the Declaration of Research between India and Germany. Invited speaker and Policy Analyst across the world. Few of her recent consultancy works domestically include the Education Sector Audit Compendium with the CAG ( Comptroller of Auditor General of India), Technical Expert for Child Budget Committee, Gender Budgeting, Govt. of Karnataka, UGC, Member BOS Association of The Chartered Accountants of India, among many others. She has twice been conferred with the ‘Young Economist Award’ by the Indian Economic Association and awarded by Madhya Pradesh Govt. for their Distance Education Programme (EDUSAT). She is the recipient of the ERDA Excellence Award 2024 for Academic Leadership and recognised by the Rotary International (RCDC )by conferring the” Outstanding Achievement Award” for educational service. With more than 25 years of teaching training and research experience, she has travelled widely both nationally and internationally including Harvard University, Oxford university, Boston University, Cologne University, Singapore university, Mauritius University, London, Thailand, Philippines etc. Her Podcast on Internationalisation of Higher Education and Student mobility in the THESIS: Trends in Higher Education Systems in International Spheres Podcast Series from University 2 of Oslo is highly recognised. She has many publications to her credit being author, reviewer and editor for renowned publishers like Routledge, Emerald, Springers, Sage, Cambridge, Oxford etc. Her latest book on “Sustainable and Dynamic Graduate Employability:A comparative overview across geographies” is published by Routledge. Her forthcoming book with Routledge, Taylor & Francis is titled “Educational Finance in India Exploring Trends, Disparities and Inequalities ( 2027). She is co-author of The INDIA HIGHER EDUCATION REPORT 2020 on Employment and Employability. She is currently the Editor of the Journal of Educational Planning and Administration, Fellow, International Congress of Environmental Research,, Former Vice President of M.P. Economic Association and Former Associate editor of the Indian Economic journal. She holds advisory position in different committees of Universities and colleges, acts as advisor UPSC and as resource person in training programmes for Central , State Govt. Officers, banking and teaching professionals across the country and abroad. Dr. Khare holds a Ph.D. in Economics with specialization in Regional Planning and Economic Growth and PGDM in Financial Management, she has a brilliant academic record of being a topper throughout including Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission examinations for collegiate services,1993 , UGC-NET qualified in 1990. She has organized innumerable academic programmes, supervised about 15 doctoral (Ph.D) and more than 50 M.Phil dissertations. Her current areas of research include employability skills of educated youth, Financing of Education, educational internationalization and regional and spatial disparities in educational development. In addition to being an accomplished academician and policy analyst representing India globally at various forums, Dr. Mona Khare has been very active in cultural and social forums right from an early age. She has done innumerable stage and TV shows as well as radio programmes. Many of her Geet, Ghazals and Bhajans have been aired in the Yuv Vani programme. She has also designed, scripted, anchored various TV shows (life features of differently abled, women's programme, New year programmes, economic discussions etc.) She is trained in Indian classical (vocal), light music and holds diploma in Indian Classical Dance (Kathak). She continues her social engagement for upliftment of girls and women through her music shows under the aegis of Mann Tarang, where the proceeds of such shows are donated for identified social causes. In the past few years, she has done several such thematic solo shows on prestigious platforms including IIC, CSOI, Kamani Auditorium etc in Delhi. Dr. Mona Khare is committed to her profession in education and her passion for music, the two of which she combines voluntarily to promote and support social causes for women and child empowerment.
