Dr. V. Sucharita is working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Administration at the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA), New Delhi since 2012. She received her MA, MPhil and PhD in Social Anthropology from the University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad. Before joining NIEPA, she has worked at the Centre for Public Policy, Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore.
She has been working on educational governance at the school level and gathered rich empirical insights by interacting with field level functionaries at the district and block level across the states. She is involved in teaching courses in PhD and MA programmes on Educational Administration, Qualitative Research methods, Foundations of Social Science research. Every year, she conducts one important training programme on educational governance exclusively meant for the District Level Education Officers. As a programme co- ordinator, she is actively involved with one of the flagship initiatives of the Department i.e., Awards for Innovations and Good Practices in Educational Administration. One of the important outcomes of this initiative is the publication of an edited volume titled “Compendium of Innovations and Good Practices in Educational Administration”.
She has widely published in journals of international repute and presented papers at both national and international conferences. Some of her recent works are published in Scopus indexed journals like Compare: A Journal of Comparative and International Education (Taylor and Francis), Contemporary Education Dialogue (Sage), International Journal of Inclusive Education (Taylor and Francis) and Journal of Asian and African Studies (Sage). She has also contributed in the development of modules in the broader area of tribal education. Among books, her recent publication includes a solo authored book titled Contrasting School Culture and Education: Mapping the Public–Private Binary, published by the Routledge UK in 2023. She has also authored papers in the NIEPA Occasional Paper Series.
Her areas of interest include: School Culture, Educational Quality, District and sub-district educational administration, Privatization of School Education, Equity and inclusive education, Tribal Education, Innovations and Change in Public Systems and qualitative research methods.
